When buying a used car, it’s easy to make mistakes. Some of them
include:
Car Inspections
Although most people don’t forget to take a peek under the hood, many
of them forget to properly inspect the underbody of a used car. Be on the
lookout for any signs of rust along the wheel wells. Additionally, you should
carefully gauge the condition of each segment of the underbody. If any wear and
tear you find is not uniform among all segments, there is a possibility that
the vehicle has undergone major repairs.
Once the engine and the underbody have been inspected, take the time to
look for any problems with the interior. Do not ignore any musty smells you
might detect. That scent usually indicates the presence of mold, which means
the car may have been flooded at one point.
Test Drives
To be fair, most people remember to test a used car that has caught
their eye; if you do this, make sure that you drive the vehicle for more than 5
miles, and to drive it on the highway. Doing so simulates “normal driving
conditions”, allowing you to see how the car performs on a daily basis.
If you are browsing used car dealerships without a specific vehicle in
mind, make sure you test drive roughly four to seven vehicles. After all, there
is no better way to determine which car is the right one for you than to test
drive and compare vehicles yourself.
